Joe

I have decided that I must keep track of my story for posterity, even if it is merely my own selfish human nature suggesting that I do so. I am an Immortal. I cannot die unless someone takes my head, and with it my power. Immortals are doomed to fight each other endlessly, the only refuge being holy ground, until the time of the gathering, from which only one Immortal will emerge. If you want more information about Immortals, look elsewhere, as the focus of this page is on something quite different.

When I first rose from the dead, a teacher came to me. He taught me well in the ways of the Immortals; how to fight, how to die, and all of the rules. For thirty-seven years after I left him, I followed his instructions exactly, with one exception: I killed more vampires than Immortals, which I will explain later. What changed after thirty-seven years? My own former teacher tried to kill me.

He had heard somewhere that I had grown powerful and arrogant, and believed that he had to correct the mistake that he had made in my training. Unfortunately, trust was the one thing that we had never managed to achieve, as he had once been a Roman soldier feeding Christians to lions, and I am a man of God. Because of this, we fought, and I had to kill him. Since then, I have hunted vampires exclusively, fighting other Immortals only when they attack me.

Why would I choose to hunt vampires?  Centuries ago, my entire village, including me, was killed by a small group of wild vampires. My family, my friends, my beloved one were all destroyed, but the people who had refused Christ during their lifetimes were taken into the hideous embrace. I am hunting to find the leader of that group and take his evil out of the world.
